Ugandan tabloid publish names of 200 prominent homosexuals

Just a day after the Ugandan President signed the anti-gay bill into law, a newspaper in the country The Red Pepper newspaper today published 200 names of prominent gay men and women in Uganda. Amongst those listed includes a catholic priest, a rap artiste as well as a prominent gay rights activist, Pepe Julien Onziema.

The list which appeared with the title Exposed, has generated great concern as it appears as a way of witch-hunting the gay community in Uganda. The list contained the names of those that were already known to be gay as well as those who have led a private gay life.

This isn't the first time this will happen in Uganda. In 2011, a list of prominent gays in Uganda was released by a Ugandan tabloid in which the editor asked for them to be Hanged. This unfortunately led to the gruesome murder of one of the country's gay right activists, David Kato.

The Federal Government has increased passport fee by 50%. According to a circular signed by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Operations/Passport and released a few days ago titled 'Passport Reforms', applicants will now pay N15,000 instead of N10,000. (It was officially N10,000 but we all know how much we really paid...lol) Also applicants for change of data will pay now N30,000.

A newly introduced 64-page passport for frequent travelers will cost N20,000, while Passport for applicants 18 years and below will cost N8,750. It's N15,000 between 18-60 and N8,500 for people above 60 years.

Female applicants, who apply for change of name as a result of marriage/divorce or deceased spouse, will pay N8,750, while processing fee for request for change of data will cost N30,000.

All payments will be made online going forward according to the circular

The far-right terrorist who killed 77 people in a bombing and mass shooting on July 22, 2011, filed a formal complaint against the Norwegian Minister of Justice and a prison director, in which he said his outdated video games were equal to 'aggravated torture'.Breivik, who is serving a 21-year sentence, has repeatedly threatened to go on hunger strikes in protest of his treatment in prison.

In a letter received by various media outlets last month, which was sent to prison authorities in November 2013, demanded that his Playstation 2 be upgraded to a PS3, a computer to replace his “worthless” typewriter, an armchair to replace his ‘painful’ chair, his weekly allowance of 300 kroner (£30) to be doubled to £60 ,and that he be given ‘access to more adult games that I get to choose myself’.
He wrote.....

Ugandan president succumbs to pressure, signs anti-gay bill into law

After months of refusing to sign the anti-gay bill which Uganda's lawmakers passed in December 2013, (Read that here) President Yoweri Museveni, today succumbed to pressure from within his country and signed the anti-gay bill into law.

He signed the bill at his official residence at Entebbe, near the capital Kampala, in front of govt officials, journalists and a team of Ugandan scientists who found no genetic basis for homosexuality, one of the reasons why he finally consented to signing the bill.

The anti-gay law criminalizes all acts of homosexually in Uganda and calls for first-time homosexual offenders to face a 14 years jail penalty. Continuous Sexual engagement by two homosexuals which involves a minor, disabled person or anyone with HIV AIDS attracts a life sentence.
